Hornets to introduce Monty Williams as next head coach

06/07/2010 - New Orleans, LA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New Orleans Hornets will reportedly introduce Monty Williams as their next head coach on Tuesday.

According to The Times-Picayune, the two sides agreed on a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year.

Williams, only 38 years old, has been an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers since 2005. He will become the youngest head coach in the NBA.

New Orleans started the 2009-10 season with Byron Scott at the helm. However, a 3-6 start led to his firing. General manager Jeff Bower stepped in as interim head coach and led the club to a Southwest Division-worst 37-45 record.

The Hornets were in need of a coach after Bower resigned to concentrate on his front office duties.
